Why there is no flower on my plant
- If you received a plant with no flower, the chances are that it had shed its flower during transit as we always send flowering or plants having flower buds. Wait till it again start flowering.
- Another reason is the season, time in which you are ordering the plant. Seasonals / annuals are temperature and season specific so they would only flower when they would get specific environment conditions.
- To enhance flowering, some plants need regular pruning. Like in chrysanthemum, more pruning will form more flowers. Pruning the budded stems/branches would remove flowering for current year and will promote flowering for next year.
- If plants were kept in shade for a long time then plants would not flower. When it is the season, keep plant in open or direct sunlight.
- Check the soil, don’t dry off the soil. Drying the soil would stress the plant and there is less or no flowering on the plant.
- Regular misting or watering will boost flowering. Regularly providing moisture will make the plant healthy.
- In winters, the plants may die due to frost. Try to keep your plants under a protected area so that it won’t be killed due to frost.
- Nutrient imbalance can lead to no flowering. Excess nitrogen will make your plant greener, it will enhance vegetative growth which slows flowering. Avoid use of excess nitrogen
- Element phosphorus is responsible for inducing flowering. Apply phosphorus based fertilizer to enhance flowering.
- Give your plant home made compost like tea, fruit and veggie peels, egg shells etc . these provide nutrients to the plant.
- Too young perennial plants would take some years, 2-3 years to bloom.
- Regional or environmental difference also affects the plant. Some plants adapt to colder while some need hotter climate. This change in environment conditions also responsible for late or no flowering.
